Certain areas of The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg campus may be susceptible to flooding as another severe weather system is expected to move through South Mississippi this afternoon from 3-9 p.m. If necessary, the University’s Eagle Alert system will be activated.
This weather system may bring potentially heavy rain that could make certain areas of the campus hazardous for motorists. The Southern Miss Gulf Park campus and other university teaching sites on the Gulf Coast are expected to have limited risk from this weather system.
Locations on the Hattiesburg campus where motorists should exercise caution in travel and for parking their vehicles include the following:
-Pinehaven Circle around Sorority Village
-Montague Boulevard between Kay James Drive and Ross Boulevard
-10 parking spaces on the south end of Fraternity Drive (west side of street) at Montague Boulevard
-West Fourth Street between Golden Eagle Avenue and Eagle Walk
-Southern Miss Drive between 30th and 31st Avenues
-Ray Guy Way at Century Park South/Spirit Park
-South end of Kay James Drive at Montague Boulevard (Dubard)
-Trent Lott Center west lot next to M.M. Roberts Stadium
-Ray Guy Way at Eagle Walk by the new raised crosswalk
-Parking area at the southwest corner of McCarty Hall
