In anticipation of severe weather conditions related to Hurricane Nate, The University of Southern Mississippi’s Hattiesburg operations will close at 6 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 7, and are expected to reopen for normal operations at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 8. At this time, regularly scheduled classes and operations on the Hattiesburg campus are anticipated to proceed as usual on Monday.
As previously announced, the University’s Gulf Coast operations will remain closed through Monday.
Students, faculty and staff, as well as visitors to the Hattiesburg campus, should be aware of the following during this period:
-All Aramark food services operations, including the Fresh Food Company and the Power House, will be closed beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
-The Fresh Food Company will reopen at 5 p.m. on Sunday, with all other Aramark operations, including the Power House, prepared to open as regularly scheduled on Monday. During the University’s closure, food services employees will deliver food and beverage items to residence halls, sorority houses and fraternity houses for on-campus residents.
-All student services, facilities and academic buildings, including Cook Library, will be closed from 6 p.m. Saturday until 5 p.m. Sunday.
-The Miss University of Southern Mississippi Pageant, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7, will begin early at 3 p.m. in order to conclude prior to the 6 p.m. closure.
-The Department of Theatre’s performance of Trojan Barbie, scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 7, at 7:30 p.m., has been canceled.
-The Southern Miss volleyball game scheduled for Sunday afternoon has been rescheduled for Monday, Oct. 16, at 1 p.m.
-Pianist Elizabeth Moak's concert "Excursions: Beethoven, Battles, Blues, and More!" scheduled for 4 p.m. on Sunday will now begin at 6 p.m., Sunday at Marsh Auditorium.
