Inclement Weather Expected for South Mississippi

Please be advised that the National Weather Service has indicated the possibility of severe storms across south Mississippi, including all USM campuses and teaching sites, throughout the day and into the evening on Thursday, April 25. Threats with this slight risk for severe weather include damaging straight-line wind gusts and hail, although a tornado cannot be ruled out.

The University community and visitors are asked to remain aware of these potential weather conditions. Should a tornado warning or severe flooding impact USM locations, the Eagle Alert emergency communication system will be activated. Alumni Association’s Grads and Crawdads Moved to Eagle Walk
The Southern Miss Alumni Association’s Grads and Crawdads event, scheduled for Thursday from 3-5:30 p.m. on the Hattiesburg campus, will be moved to Eagle Walk due to the anticipated inclement weather. This event is free and open to undergraduate seniors.

Eagle Walk will be closed to vehicle traffic on Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. in conjunction with the event. Hub City Transit’s Gold Line buses will be re-routed down Championship Lane with stops at Scianna Hall and Wilber Hall.
