Parking and street access improving, but Hardy Street still closed

Please be advised that as of 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, work continues on traffic signals along Hardy Street, which may prevent its opening and access to the gravel parking lot at Elam Arms (map) when classes resume Thursday morning on the Hattiesburg campus.

Otherwise, parking and street access is continuing to improve, with parking spaces along Southern Miss Drive and Championship Lane by the Ogletree Alumni House (map) opening by Thursday morning.

Other major parking locations in the area - the gravel lot on Ross Boulevard (map) and the Theatre and Dance lot (map) - are open, as is the Parking Garage (map) on West Fourth Street.

Parking will still be unavailable along Alumni Drive directly in front of the Alumni House. Until Hardy Street re-opens, spaces on East and West Memorial Drive at the front of campus, south of Southern Miss Drive, will be unavailable.

Access to campus is still open through Ross Boulevard and through 38th Avenue to Pearl Street or Montague Boulevard, as well as from West Fourth Street in both directions.

University Police caution all students, faculty and staff to leave ample time for travel and the possibility for delays.

Classes begin Thursday, and students whose classes have been have been altered for location or cancelation should have already received email notification of changes.

However, if you have a question or concern whether the location of your class or classes has been affected, please review your class schedule in SOAR.

All MUP, MED, or MUS (except MUS 165/H) classes will not meet this week and are scheduled to resume on Monday, Feb. 18.
Thank you for your patience as the University continues to recover from Sunday’s tornado.
