Message from University Police: Tropical Disturbance Expected to Bring Heavy Rains, High Winds to South Mississippi

The University of Southern Mississippi Police Department advises the University community on the Gulf Coast and in Hattiesburg of the threat of severe weather, beginning on Friday, June 18, and continuing through the weekend, from a tropical disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico that is expected to develop into Tropical Storm Claudette. This system is expected to bring heavy rain with up to 5-10 inches through Sunday, gusty winds, possible tornadic activity, and high surfs and flooding to the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
