Severe Weather System Expected to Affect South Mississippi Today

Members of the Southern Miss community in Hattiesburg and at its Gulf Park campus in Long Beach, as well as other Gulf Coast teaching sites, are asked to monitor news reports concerning a severe weather system moving through south Mississippi today, Thursday, Dec. 27, beginning in the early afternoon, and continuing into the evening hours. The storm is expected to bring up to six inches of rain that could result in flash flooding and the potential of damaging wind gusts of up to 60 miles per hour. Tornadic activity cannot be ruled out.
