Potential for Severe Weather in South Mississippi Today (June 6, 2019)

All students, faculty and staff on the University’s Hattiesburg and Gulf Park campuses, as well as other Gulf Coast teaching sites, are asked to monitor news reports concerning the potential for severe weather this afternoon and possibly this evening. The National Weather Service in Jackson has issued a tornado watch and flash flood watch for the Hattiesburg and Gulf Coast areas until 7 p.m. These areas have been placed in an elevated risk for flash flooding (2 out of 4). Either area could see 2 to 4 inches of rainfall today.
