Potential for Severe Weather Forecast for South Mississippi March 10-12

The National Weather Service in Jackson has forecast heavy rainfall and possibly more severe weather for South Mississippi March 10-12, bringing up to 3-6 inches of rain that could cause flash flooding.

University of Southern Mississippi students, faculty and staff at the Hattiesburg and Gulf Park campuses, and the Gulf Coast Research Laboratory in Ocean Springs, are asked to monitor weather forecasts and take precautions. Should an emergency situation arise due to this weather system, the University will activate the Eagle Alert emergency communication system.
